It is a fact that our skin is aging naturally with the passage of time. However, this physiological process can bring some unsightly consequences such as the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other problems on the face caused by the loss of skin elasticity. To treat these problems considered as unattractive skin, there are different professional treatments of aesthetic nature that will help both reduce and prevent the dreaded wrinkles.

One of the most popular treatments in the world is Botox,  aesthetic technique without surgery where a substance called botulinum toxin is injected into the face, which has the ability to reduce wrinkles during a certain time. However, if you want to know more about this professional technique, keep reading this article where we will explain How does Botox works on the Face - We Tell You and its effects on the skin. Take note!

What is Botox

BOTOX treatment comprises a drug substance called botulinum toxin type A. This compound is a neurotoxin that is made from the bacterium called Clostridium botulinum and is used in these aesthetic processes for its blocking effects that prevent the neurotransmitter function performed by muscle contractions, that is, it manages to cause muscular paralysis with a temporary duration in the place that is injected.

In other words, Botox injections in the face stop the neurotransmitters that produce the movements and contractions of the facial muscles and, as a result, prevent and reduce wrinkles and expression lines of the face without causing any disorder in our health.

How Botox Treatment Works on the Face

As we have indicated, the Botox treatment consists of the application of botulinum toxin type A in the face. This administration is done through infiltrations or injections with a very thin needle in different points of the face.

Although it is a procedure without any type of surgery, it is absolutely necessary that it be carried out by medical specialists, since an infiltration performed incorrectly or in an inappropriate site could cause adverse effects due to muscle paralysis.

How long the Botox Lasts between the Eyebrows and on the Face

The aesthetic treatment of Botox has a temporary duration of about 6 months and is popularly used to correct wrinkles that are on the upper part of the face, such as crow's feet, lines of expression and wrinkles between the eyebrows or in the horizontal area of the forehead

However, this process of professional aesthetics has evolved over time and, currently, is also used to reduce other facial imperfections such as:

Uncomfortable nasal Vertex: Some people have the columella (the bone of the tip of the nose) with a depressor structure, that is, that lowers when they make any type of expression. Botox, by reducing this nasal contraction, helps the tip of the nose is more straight.

Face too Square: This treatment manages to round this type of facial shape by infiltrating the lower part of the oval.

Sunken nasolabial groove:  Botulinum toxin corrects the muscles that cause this cleft making injections from the area of the grooves to the corner of the lips.

Lines of bitterness: Lines of "expression" that appear from the corners of the lips to the chin of the face. The toxin infiltrates the muscles that cause these excessive contractions in the lower area of the face and corrects it by applying a Botox filler in the bitterness lines.

Very high Chin: this treatment can also correct and improve the profile of too prominent barbels.

Side Effects of Botox on the Face

The botulinic toxin does not stop being a toxic substance very similar to any poison that does not turn out to be a danger for the health since an appropriate dose is administered. Therefore, it is so important that the treatments are provided by a medical team specialized in professional aesthetic processes.

However, despite being administered by professionals, Botox is totally contraindicated in cases of allergic to botulinum toxin, women in pregnancy, in children under 20 and in people over 65 years.

On the other hand, although it is still a very safe method of aesthetics if performed by a specialist, the treatment of Botox can cause the following side effects :

  1. Headache.
  2. Muscle pains.
  3. Rashes.
  4. Irritation in the throat.
  5. Dry mouth.
  6. Upset and fever.
  7. Drowsiness.
  8. Muscle spasms.
